About Me

Hello,

My name is Paul Dalenberg and a lot has changed in my life since I last updated these pages.  I have moved back to Virginia Beach from Stuttgart, Germany.  I have recently gotten divorced, changed jobs, and even met someone new.  Life is good and I am very happy.

I have discovered a few things over the years when it comes to Genealogy.   First thing I have realized is that I am a terrible procrastinator when it comes to this site, and for that I apologize.  I realize that there is nothing more frustrating than finding a loved one on the site and realizing that some of the information is incorrect and not having your emails answered.  I have missed out on some great connections over the years due to this.  I hope you can all understand that I do enjoy this, and I am going to try to do better.  Sometimes life gets in the way, and sometimes I am just being a little lazy. Also remember that I do this for free, for fun, and I do really love providing this information for all of my “relatives”.

I hope that this year and all future years helps the site to continue to grow!!

Thanks for all of your support and patience over the years.

Thanks,

Paul Dalenberg

Below is what I wrote about years ago -Jun 2006

Hello my name is Paul Dalenberg and I first started this website about 10 years ago as a hobby.  It was the perfect mixture between two of my favorite things, Computers and Genealogy.  When I started I had information on less than 100 people in a printout that my uncle Richard “Dicky” Dalenberg had given me.  Most of his information had come from his own knowledge and personally interviewing people.

With his information I was able to do some searches on the internet contact a few people and get a little more information.  I came across Duane Dalenberg early on and he had a zest for genealogy that far surpassed my own.  He provided me quite a bit of Dalenberg history as well as 1000’s of names for the family tree.

Posting this information on the web proved to be a great idea and I was soon given an entire branch that was missing from a Carol Dalenberg in Ohio.  I also received several updates from many, many others over the years.

I will say there have been a few bumps along the way and I have learned quite a bit.  When I started posting this information online I used to post a list of e-mail addresses of all the Dalenberg’s that had contacted me over the years.  This list of names soon became the target of spammers, and I began receiving 100’s of junk e-mails a day.   Not only was I the target of spammers, but so was everyone else I had added to my list.  My guest book was also spammed with advertisements.  Quickly the site I put up in the interest of proving as much information as possible had become a full time job.

I began to miss actual e-mails from family members in the flood of spam and soon disabled my e-mail account all together.  This is actually what caused me to lose my web site.  I had been receiving requests for a Dalenberg e-mail address, but had not responded.  When my domain came up for renewal I let it slip and this person took over the site to get the e-mail address.  I should have been more diligent about the domain registry, so it is no ones fault but my own.

I have tried to implement a few things that will make this experience much better for everyone involved.  The Guest Book and Photo Gallery have anti spam mechanisms in place.  The online family tree now has privacy controls in place.  And you will not find any e-mail addresses listed here.  If you would like to contact me click on the contact me link on the left hand side of the page.

I hope you find what you need on this page.  Please remember to upload or send some pictures, keep me updated on new family events and give me corrections to old ones.

Thanks,

Paul Dalenberg
